Strictly speaking, I wouldn't classify myself as an artist or designer so much as a creative problem-solver. My strong point is the analytical side to design, taking a left-brained approach to a right-brained field (I'm one of the two graphic artists I personally know who has just as much fun playing with code). As such, creativity is in short supply if I sit down on my own and try to make something new, but when someone tells me what they need and what I have to work with, however limited or random it may be, that's when I start showing what I can do.
